Snow Tubing in the Summer? Yes, please!

You are watching the kids laugh and play in the snow, race down white slopes on snow tubes, and build snowmen… in July? In the Smoky Mountains, it is wintertime all the time at Pigeon Forge Snow, the first facility of its kind in the country! During your stay in a Cabins for YOU cabin, you have a rare opportunity to take the kids whitewater rafting, hiking, ziplining, and snow tubing all in one cabin trip in the Smoky Mountains. Share one of the most memorable summer vacations, yet, and spend hot summer days playing in some snow – indoors!

Pigeon Forge Snow opened the doors to its 35,000-square foot facility March 18, 2018 as North America’s first indoor snow complex! It is also a locally owned and managed business, the entrepreneurial inspiration of Matthew Ayers, a Sevierville native and owner of Goats on the Roof. Most importantly, Pigeon Forge Snow is all REAL SNOW! No chemicals, only frozen water and state of the art snowmaking technology that allows Pigeon Forge Snow to continuously produce fluffy snow where the kids can make snow angels.

Okay, we know what you are thinking, how big can indoor snow slopes actually be? Pigeon Forge Snow exceeds your expectations with 15 lanes and 200 feet of wintery hill to plunge down! Tucked into a rubber inflatable tube, race the kids or cheer them on as they race down the snowy slides. Tubers are only required to be over 3 years of age and at least 38 inches tall, making it an incredible day of wintertime fun with the whole family! $21.99 provides each tuber with an hour of unlimited rides down the slopes with the assistance of a flat escalator that carries tubers back to the summit of the lanes between each ride.

Snowy Fun for Littles

The little ones are not excluded from the wintery fun in the summer snow! SnowPlay is a spacious area where kids and the young-at-heart of all ages can play in the snow for $7.99 for each 30 minutes. Pair the snow tubing and SnowPlay together for a discounted price of $27.99! Your smallest children will be absolutely overjoyed to experience snow for the first time and you get to skip the struggle of layering them up like poor little Randy in A Christmas Story, when he could not put his arms down or enjoy the snow in his physical struggle with his winter coats. Build snow castles, snow angels, and little snow sculptures with the kids for 30 minutes without their little fingers getting too cold! How is all this possible? Well, that leads us to your next question…

Snow in summer…what?!

Do you need to pack winter clothes for your summer vacation since you are going to be playing in snow? Nope! This facility is pretty amazing, in that you are afforded all the awesome perks of snow in an atmosphere that stays around 65-70 degrees with the help of Pigeon Forge Snow’s advanced snow-making technology. Wear your normal summer clothes – with maybe a long-sleeve t-shirt and definitely closed-toe shoes – just be sure not to keep any loose objects on you when tubing and skip wearing your summer flip-flops.

Your kids are free to tube and play without you, too! Parents can watch and cheer from a viewing level on the second floor where you can sit back and rest while the kids tube and play in the snow. Afterwards, they are sure to be all tuckered-out and ready for a nap back at the cabin, giving mom and dad some quiet time in the hot tub! On the viewing deck, there is a snack bar where the family can grab some food and drinks to re-energize after all the excitement and thrills of flying down the snow slopes. Watching from the viewing deck is absolutely free!

Fun for Groups

Snow tubing is a great group activity during your church’s next youth retreat, family reunions in the Smokies, and birthday parties! While working with Pigeon Forge Snow ahead of time would be ideal for large groups, the facility does have the space for 300 guests at a time. Pigeon Forge Snow can host and help accommodate your group of 15 or more by simply filling out their online form; one of their specialists will contact you!

Pigeon Forge Snow is open 7 days a week, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.! Surprise the kids with a trip to the snow slopes for an experience like nowhere else in the United States. You can even sign up for email discounts and information through their website! Head to slopes this summer, for the most unlikely fun under the Tennessee sun.
