Seasons & Pigeon Forge Weather – When to Visit and Why

Any time of year is a great time to visit Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Our seasons are very distinct and each offers a unique experience in the Smoky Mountains. The weather in Pigeon Forge, TN changes and the whole town follows suite. The scenery changes, the décor changes, the activities change, but the people stay the same. Throughout all of the seasons you’ll find Pigeon Forge, TN residents to be very hospitable. The Southern hospitality and charm that Tennessee is known for definitely extend into the city of Pigeon Forge.

Whether you would enjoy vacationing in Pigeon Forge during a particular time of year depends on what you like. If you like the weather to be under 70 degrees, summer may not be your best bet. If your idea of a vacation is laying out by the pool and basking in the sun, you may not enjoy coming to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee during the winter.

Spring in Pigeon Forge, TN- This is the time of year when the flowers begin appearing and everything feels fresh and alive. The colors in Pigeon Forge, TN begin to pop up at the base of the mountains and then trickle up as it gets warmer and warmer. Yellow, white, violet, and rouge colors make their ways out first (service berry and dogwood.) Then mountain laurels show up in May followed by rhododendron in June. Lows in Pigeon Forge, TN in March can dip as low as 47 degrees but by May highs will be reaching 77 degrees. You may need both short sleeved and long sleeved clothing during this season.

Summer in Pigeon Forge, TN- The summer in Pigeon Forge, TN is when the city is at it’s hottest, and it’s busiest. The animals are very active during this time and it’s not unusual to see a couple of bears strolling in the mountains during this season. Lows in Pigeon Forge, TN during the summer will dip to a nice 71 degrees, but highs can reach over 86 degrees farenheit. Wear lightweight clothing during this season and apply sunscreen.

Fall in Pigeon Forge, TN- This is one of our favorite seasons in Pigeon Forge, TN. The greenery  begins to start changing colors and by the end of October the sights are just breathtakingly gorgeous! The weather in Pigeon Forge is perfect for hiking during this season but the nights can get a little bit chilly so bring a jacket just in case. Lows reach 49 degrees during this season and highs reach 80 degrees.

Winter in Pigeon Forge, TN- The winters around Pigeon forge, Tennessee have been more snow-filled in the past two years than in a really long time. Snow falls, and snowboarders do too. Ober Gatlinburg is a great place to visit during the winter in Pigeon Forge. The skiing is fun and the whole family will enjoy it. Highs during the winter can reach up to 58 degrees and lows can dip under 30 degrees.
