The Old Mill’s 10th Annual Heritage Day – Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

The Old Mill is, simply put, a Pigeon Forge, Tennessee tradition. From the picturesque water wheel to the delicious food, homemade pottery, stone ground grain and more, The Old Mill has been a landmark of the town since its construction in the early 1800’s. Looking for something to do this Saturday? Come celebrate the history of The Old Mill and The Old Mill’s 10th Annual Heritage Day!

Back and better than ever before, the 10th Annual event will be hosted on September 28, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This year the event will host free guided tours of the Historic Old Mill, where you can learn the history of the mill from knowledgeable guides.

Heritage Day will host live music and entertainment throughout the day from some of your favorite mountain music artists. Listen to the twang of bluegrass, sing along to traditional folk music and watch as cloggers, dancers and twirlers demonstrate their traditional skills. Make sure you bring chairs or a blanket so you can kick back and enjoy the show!

What else is there? Authentic demonstrations will be hosted throughout the day, showcasing some mountaineers most sought-after and famous skills. Enjoy quilting, molasses, moonshine, lye soap and apple butter making demonstrations throughout the day – you may turn into a mountaineer before you know it!

Along with the demonstrations are arts and crafts, pumpkin painting stations, an old-fashioned cake walk, bingo and a farmers market full of fresh and locally-grown delights. This family-friendly event welcomes families of all ages, including young children! There will be children’s activities and crafts throughout the day, including a petting zoo, old-fashioned games, kids train rides and arts and crafts tent where the little ones can show off their artistic side.

What good is a fall festival without delicious, authentic food? Enjoy a taste of Appalachia with dishes such as chicken and dumplings, pinto beans, cornbread, fried green tomatoes and more.

Enjoy all of these wonderful attractions all while being surrounded by fall decorations, friendly folks and, of course, the beautiful Old Mill waterfall.
