Pigeon Forge’s biggest attraction, the famous Dollywood, recently announced an expansion plan that is sure to thrill you and your family. Sort of a way to celebrate their 30th anniversary, the expansion includes plans to add a new resort and several additional rides to the park. Country superstar herself, Dolly Parton was blessed with the honors of announcing plans to expand the park. The addition of these new attractions and resorts over the next 10 years is also expected to add nearly 3,000 jobs to the state of Tennessee!
One of the main additions to the park will be a roller coaster called the Fire Chaser Express. This dual-launch roller coaster is set to be the first new addition to the park and, unlike other coasters, will take riders both forward and backward. The theme of the ride will be based off of the volunteer fire departments that surround the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The ride is expected to be family-friendly
and an excellent thrill ride for the younger children!
In addition to the new rides will be a resort named DreamMore, expected to open sometime in 2015. The resort’s plans include iconic southern décor and architecture, including the scenic southern front porch. Some rooms will offer private, gated porches while others include décor hand-selected by Mrs. Parton herself!
The DreamMore Resort is expected to boast a grand lobby with a three-story window that frames a stunning view of Mount LeConte. The resort will house approximately 300 room s and will provide a welcome relaxation spot for tired hikers and explorers from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Dollywood’s last big announcement was for America’s first winged roller coaster called the Wild Eagle. The first of its kind in the United States, this incredible coaster allows your feet to dangle as you swoop 21 stories into the air.
