Annual Hot Rod Roundup #36 in Pigeon Forge

Car lovers everywhere should make plans to attend the annual Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup in Pigeon Forge this fall. Featuring more than 200 hot rods, this classic car show allows contestants to compete for the first-place grand prize, which will be a 1932 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster! And the second-place prize will be $10,000 cash! Spectators are also welcome to check out the preserved classics and decked-out rides at this one-of-a-kind rod run in the Smoky Mountains.

What Is It?
The 36th annual Shades of the Past Rod Run is the hottest ticket in town this fall in Pigeon Forge. Rev your engines this Labor Day weekend with a walk through this amazing car show that features rods, classics, and customs built up to the year 1972. Many of the vehicles at this car show are original, preserved classics, but you’ll also find some modern takes on the classics that are sure to impress. Operating since 1983, this classic car show will be a big hit with your crew when visit the Smokies this fall.

Awards to be given at the 2018 Shades of the Past show include Street Rod of the Year; Street Machine of the Year; Street Cruiser of the Year; Top 25; Magnificent 7; Mighty Muscle Picks; Shades Specialty Awards, and more!

Tickets to the hot rod show are $10 per day. Children 12 and under get in for FREE. Spectators will enjoy looking at the cars, trading at the giant swap meet, and roaming the various vendors who are located throughout the event.

When
The Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup takes place each year in Pigeon Forge around Labor Day. This year, the show will be held September 7-8, 2018. Spectator gates will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where
You can find the incredible Rod Run show at Dollywood’s Splash Country, which has become an extremely popular venue in the past several years. The water park closes for the season the day after Labor Day, so the entire park and its parking lot will be vacant for the Shades of the Past car show. So no need to worry about fighting traffic on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge. Instead, you can ride the Fun Time Trolley for only $0.50 per person to Dollywood’s Splash Country. Or you can drive to Splash Country yourself. Spectator parking will be available for a fee of $12, and shuttles will be provided to transport you to and from the show site.
